Our family business

John Allnutt 1934 – 2004, was a watchmaker for over fifty years completing his apprenticeship in 1951, after which he worked for J.W Benson in New Bond Street, London. Having time spent as a watchmaker for Kingsway stores in Nigeria and Ghana, in 1965, he returned to the UK to set up his own business in London. In 1965 he became a Craft Member of the British Horological Institute CMBHI and in 1981 moved his family and business to Midhurst, West Sussex. He retired in 2001 leaving Geoff, his son, to run the family business.

Geoff Allnutt

At 16 he left Midhurst and studied horology in London for three years at Hackney Technical College passing the final grade of the British Horological Institute exams with merit in 1985. He then embarked on the famous WOSTEP (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Education Program) course in Neuchatel Switzerland studying under master watchmaker Antoine Simonin. Upon his return to the UK he rejoined the family business and for the past thirty years he has successfully developed the vintage watch restoration and sales side of the company.

In his 3rd year of training he won the coveted BHI Award for Best Service at the BHI Institute in Upton Hall, Newark before qualifying and becoming a member of the BHI in August 2015.
